book reviews times three!

2006-04-10
quiet weekend for me. i went to the library on saturday and got seven books of which i have read three already! *smile* obviously i spent my weekend reading! would you like some book reviews? i thought you'd never ask!

"Size 12 is Not Fat" by Meg Cabot. -
This book was a fun, lighthearted mystery with a wonderful heroine in Heather Wells. She's an assistant resident advisor in a dorm, excuse me resident hall and when co-eds start turning up dead she's the only one to believe that the deaths weren't accidental....until the killer comes after her! I'd recommend this to anyone wanting an fun quick read featuring a delightful, quirky, self confident young woman!

"A Most Uncommon Degree of Popularity" by Kathleen Gilles Seidel -
Mothers of adolescent girls will love this book that illuminates the dynamics of middle-school girls and their mothers. What happens when a mid-western woman goes to college and law school, gets married has children and becomes an upper middle class mom in the wealthy suburbs of the big city of DC....and her middle school daughter is suddenly one of the "popular girls".

"Pretty Woman" by Fern Michaels -
A fairly predictable romantic fiction novel but Rosie, the heroine of the novel keeps it from being a trite cutsey harlequin type book. Watch Rosie change from the overweight doormat wife to the strong, capable,self-possessed WOMAN she truly is.

so...those are the ones i have read so far. quick enjoyable reads. sometimes you just have to fill your mind with cozy comfy books instead of the ones that make you think too much. i needed that right now!
