What is it they tell everyone in recovery, when looking at the mountain of problems to conquer? One day at a time...or - if I remember correctly from when first learning to control the cutting impulse - one second at a time. Always give yourself room for growth - or what others call "mistakes" - and always remember, you're human. *Hugs*

If you ever figure out what made you want to starve and cut and burn and destroy your poor body, I'd be interested in hearing about it because I have a daughter who does the same things. At least you realize that the human body is a marvelous thing. I think you're on the right path, and wish you all the best.

That's marvelous! Like Cat said, one day at a time. It's so very, very hard to get out of the cycle of doing harm to ourselves and I am VERY proud of you. If you march ahead without a stumble, I'm proud of you. If you have some setbacks and trip ups and have to try again and again, I'm proud of you. I am also proud to be your friend. ~LA

Often, people do things like cutting to punish themselves. Anorexia is a control thing: people who have it often feel powerless over other areas of their lives, and like failures, but attempt to take control by starving, because at least they can try to control what they eat. At least, that's my knowledge of it.
